Our first breath fills us with life force and our last breath marks our transition from this plane of existence. Of all the Hive Practices, working with the breath feels most transformative.
Breathwork helps alleviate symptoms experienced with anxiety and depression. Intentional breathing supports present-moment awareness, memory, sexual function and supports recovery after exercise. It can improve blood pressure and help diminish the effects of stress. Use breathing to create energy in the body or a sense of relaxation. Increase your lung capacity providing more oxygen and energy to the brain and all parts of the body. Controlling the breath provides a sense of power and focus!
In this 6 AT-HOME week practice, you will receive an email at the start of each week with:
a follow-along practice video that begins with specific instruction on how to increase lung capacity as well as the technique you’ll work with throughout the week.
journal pages for optional self-reflection
a private Slack group for accountability, motivation, and inspiration
2 practice tracks:
a plan for folks new/newer to breathwork, or for people who have smaller lung capacity
a plan for folks with breathwork experience or a greater lung capacity
Minimum Expectations:
Practice with the follow along video (between 10-20, minutes depending on the week) 5-7 days of the week. Ultimately you decide how much time and how often you’ll practice and will share that goal with Melissa.
That’s all. It’s up to you whether you work with the journal pages or participate in the Slack group. The bottom line is creating a habit that nurtures resilience and present moment awareness in your daily life.
Participate in the entire 6 week practice, meet your practice goal and earn a 2024 Breath Practice Incentive T-Shirt. (If you do your best and make to the end but don’t meet your goal, you’ll have the option to purchase BPI swag. These are limited edition runs and only BPI participants will have access!)
All participants will receive links to both the beginner and advanced tracks. The links remain available indefinitely. Continue to work with these practices after the incentive, increase your lung capacity, and experience the magick of a long term breath practice!
